‘My diary’ is an intimate artwork, the most secret revelation of the artist, as it captures the essence of one's life journey through the reading of a personal diary.
Given as a gift on her 17th birthday in June 2007, Marcy Petit started writing and documenting life's moments until the final page in 2015.
What does one do when they've completed their journal? What happens to these stories, these testimonies, these memories of our past? Sometimes, we read and revisit them from time to time, keeping them alive in our memories. Other times, they lay hidden at the bottom of a drawer, like an ancient secret, gradually fading from our recollection.
‘My diary’ presents us with a personal and collective reinterpretation of memories that either endure or fade away over time. In either case, these writings bear witness to fragments of life's tapestry—navigating the transition from adolescence to adulthood, exploring love, cherishing friendships, facing fears, and enduring loss. These are universal emotions and stories that resonate with us all.
